About Me

Who Am I?

Hi! My name's Tucker, a recent graduate from the University of Colorado, Boulder. I graduated in May of 2022 with a BA in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and a certificate in Animals in Society. I've been interested in biology for my entire life, and college has allowed me to explore facets of this science that I'd never imagined possible.

I am currently employed at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus performing microbiology research on Shigella flexneri. Previously, I was employed with SomaLogic, a cutting-edge proteomics company dedicated to changing lives through the intersection of health and science.

From a very young age, my passions have been in the sciences, and growing up I often wanted to be some sort of biologist or veterinary specialist. This only grew in high school, when I was able to take a 2-year, college level biology class that reinforced my love for the discipline. In undergrad, I initially wanted to pursue a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, but a couple of courses on Immunology and Infectious Disease shifted my interests to the world of not only disease, but their intersection with social forces and inequalities. This drove me to focus on sociological perspectives and public health. These interdisciplinary fields are truly cutting-edge, and I am truly thrilled to get to dive head-first into them!

Outside Life

When I'm not pipetting or running analyses at work, I am usually exploring the lovely city of Denver, CO with my partner, playing with my cats Stella and Fig, or diving into rabbit-hole topics about anything and everything. I love to unwind with movies and books, too. In the summers, I love tending to our garden and taking day trips throughout the state!
